Your reading stays yours.

Hummle is built to work without the internet. No account, no cloud, no tracking. Here is exactly what that means, in plain words.

we mean it
  • No accountThere is nothing to sign up for, and nothing to log in to.
  • No cloudThe voices, the reading and the checks all run on your own PC. Your text and audio are never uploaded.
  • No trackingNo analytics, no ads, no automatic crash reports. Nobody sees what you read.
  • Yours to deleteYour library is a folder you choose. Delete it and it’s gone.

Stays on your PC

  • Everything you send to Hummle or paste into it
  • The audio it makes, and every take you keep
  • Your library, history and reading positions
  • Your pronunciation lists and settings
  • The voices themselves

Uses the internet

  • Downloading the voices and sounds once, when you set Hummle up.
  • Web pages you open in your browser, which load from their websites as they always would.

That’s the whole list. After setup, Hummle works offline.

Try it: switch the internet off.

Hummle keeps reading. The work happens in your PC, not on someone else’s server, so there’s nothing to send and nowhere for it to go.

Nothing travels from your PC to the internet:

Only used to download voices once, and for web pages you open yourself.

Questions people ask

Can you see what I read or listen to?

No. Hummle has no server that your reading goes to, and no analytics. What you read never leaves your computer, so there is nothing for anyone to see.

What does the browser extension look at?

Only the page you’re on, and only when you click Hummle. It copies the story or article text into your library on your PC. It never reads form fields or passwords, and it doesn’t watch your browsing.

Does Hummle need the internet?

Only once, to download the voices and sounds when you set it up. After that you can listen offline. Web pages still need the internet to load in your browser, as they always do.

Where are my files kept?

In a library folder you choose. Drafts, chapters, audio and settings are ordinary files on your own drive, so you can back them up, move them or delete them.

Are the voices real people?

No. Every voice is original and none copies a real person. The portraits on this site are AI-generated to show each voice’s character.

What about this website?

No cookies, no analytics and no third-party scripts. The fonts are served from this site, so your visit isn’t shared with anyone else. Like every website, the server that hosts these pages keeps basic access logs (such as IP addresses) for security; Hummle doesn’t use them to track you.
